Savage Cat Food | Custom Corrugated Boxes

Savage Cat Food has been a Peek Packaging customer since 2015. When they came to us, they had a vision for their brand based on a design that another company created but failed to execute properly. We used the design as a starting point, but made some structural changes to help create the image that Savage Cat Food was looking for.
The box design is a modified tuck top auto bottom with a custom cut out carrier handle. An extra flap was added to the top of the box to cut one handle out while a second handle gets pulled through the additional top flap. This creates a sturdy handle by utilizing two layers of material. The handle was made in the shape of a cat head as a unique design that stands out on the shelf and supports the brand image.

The graphics on the Kraft board are printed with black as the primary color, white for the logo itself, and one unique color for a flavor differentiator. Printing onto a brown substrate like Kraft is difficult so two layers of white were needed to display a true white for the logo and one layer beneath the flavor color to keep the flavor print bright. The ingenious part of this artwork design is that most of the black and white print of the artwork stays the same between SKUs. This allows for small print plate modifications instead of completely new print plates when new flavors are rolled out. Thinking of details like this in advance will save Savage Cat Food hundreds to thousands of dollars for minimal work needed every time a new flavor comes out!
